Again this year, our Voices For Choices- TRC Chapt

Again this year, our Voices For Choices- TRC Chapter self-advocacy group donated an item for the annual St Susan Center Basket Fair, which takes place Saturday. Voices for Choices donated a Puppy Pack in memory of Layla, the dog who was the group’s unofficial mascot.

Today is World Down Syndrome Day! Some employees in our Human Resources and Staff Learning & Development departments got into the spirit by wearing colorful or mismatched socks. Nice work, team!

Take photos of your funky footwear and post them using #rockyoursocks and #ImproveOurSupportSystems. And let's commit to ensuring that, everywhere, there are adequate support systems in place so people with Down syndrome and other disabling conditions can be fully included and valued in their communities.

Today is World Behavior Analysis Day, and our Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Services Division wants to recognize the team of highly effective people who make a positive impact on the lives of so many.

Our IDD Behavior Team is committed to writing effective plans to direct staff on how to help those supported by TRC’s Residential Programs to live their best lives. The Behavior Intervention Specialists and Behavior Technicians are available to train staff and support each person to help them work through the barriers keeping them from being successful in meeting their life goals.

We’re proud to share the news that The Resource

We’re proud to share the news that The Resource Center has again been recognized as one of the healthiest workplaces in the region. We finished second among Large Companies (500+ employees) in the Healthiest Employers in Western New York competition, which is coordinated by Buffalo Business First. This marks the 10th straight year we’ve been a finalist in the annual competition (and it’s only the second time we didn’t finish first).

The key to our success is our Trc Stars Wellness Program, which provides lots of activities to support our staff to be healthy. Pictured with our second-place plaque are STARS Wellness Team members Heather Courtney, Donna Trusso and Jon DeSantis. We’re extremely proud of our STARS Team, as well as all of our employees who are committed to a healthy lifestyle!

This week we shine our “Employee Spotlight” on Betty Karda, who was Employee of the Month in our Support Departments. Betty was nominated by James Reed, Community-Based Services Manager, for how she supports our staff. In particular, James praised the way Betty engages and assists people entering our Administrative Building through the Staff Training entrance. “She’s very good at handling visitors,” James said, “making them feel welcome from the moment they arrive.”
