The Resource Center has been providing services to persons with disabilities in the Chautauqua County area since 1959. From our humble beginnings as a gathering of parents and concerned citizens who wanted to provide educational and training opportunities for persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities, The Resource Center has grown into a comprehensive agency providing services to thousands of persons with all types and levels of disabilities. With 60 years of providing essential services to our community, The Resource Center remains an important asset to the area.
The Resource Center offers Community Habilitation service to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live independently in the community. The service is designed to promote and enhance independent living skills.
The Resource Center staff can assist with home care items such as: menu planning, grocery shopping, personal finances, daily living skills, home maintenance, community exploration, and volunteering. The goal of the service is to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to become integrated into their community.
To be eligible for The Resource Center Community Habilitation service, an individual must be developmentally disabled, as determined by the New York State Office of People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
All staff are trained to follow OPWDD (Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities) guidelines for community habilitation. All of staff are well trained, compassionate people. They provide support and assistance to enable individuals to attain their personal goals and desires within the plan.
Community Habilitation services vary depending on the needs of the individual to maintain maximum independence.
