DESCRIPTION:People supported by The Resource Center who recently passed away will be remembered at our annual William Haenggi Celebration of Life on Friday\, November 21\, in our facility at 200 Dunham Avenue. Anyone is welcome to attend this free event. At the start\, we’ll remember people with developmental disabilities who received Residential supports from TRC and who died since the last Celebration of Life was held in November 2024. Following the remembrance\, there will be a dance. Those planning to attend should park in the rear lot and use the door at the top of the ramp. The Celebration of Life is named in memory of Bill Haenggi\, a longtime member of TRC’s Board of Directors.

Baked goods and chili will be available\, and there will be a drawing for donated prizes. SUMMARY:9th Annual Lip Sync Battle
DESCRIPTION:Our most flamboyantly fabulous fund-raiser is the annual Lip Sync Battle. Contestants – many wearing glamorous attire – battle it out to see who will be crowned the Lip Sync Champion. \nMoney raised through the Lip Sync Battle benefits the Mark Pacheco WOW (Working on Wonders) Fund\, one of The Resource Center funds managed by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. The WOW Fund was established to memorialize Mark’s life and his many contributions to TRC and to the community at large. Mark was a TRC employee who died in 2010. The WOW Fund’s purpose is to make wishes and dreams come true for people with disabilities by providing funds to enable them to enjoy events or experiences they couldn’t otherwise.

This unique event\, which focuses exclusively on films that celebrate the diverse lives and creativity of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)\, strives to challenge assumptions and breakdown stereotypes. By introducing powerful\, thought-provoking films from around the world to new and ever-more inclusive audiences\, we hope to promote greater acceptance\, celebrate difference and light the spark to help make the invisible\, visible. \nThe Sprout Film Festival was founded in 2003 and is programmed and supported by Sprout\, a New York City based non-profit organization dedicated to bringing innovative programming to individuals with I/DD. \nThe success of the Sprout Film Festival gave rise to the Sprout Touring Film Festival that travels the country to inspire people from every walk of life. \nAudiences have had the unique chance to view these wonderful and thought-provoking films here in Jamestown\, NY for the past several years. \nThe Sprout Film Festival Benefitting Step Up for Autism takes place on September 24th! DESCRIPTION:Since its founding in 1979\, Sprout has provided a year-round travel program of vacations as well as a year-round program of day and evening cultural\, social and art-related activities in New York City for people with developmental disabilities. Since 1995\, Sprout has run an annual weekend-long music\, film and arts festival for an average of 225 people with developmental disabilities complete with live bands\, video screenings\, interactive art projects\, carnival games\, and other entertainment.
